A shop in urban jungle Bangkok has an unlikely product - refurbished old surfboards with custom decorations.
Hawaii Surf Thailand imports second-hand surfing planks and redecorates them to be sold at more affordable prices on the outskirts of the Thai capital.
The owner, Nam, said the newly redesigned surfboards can then be used as decoration, be resold, or stay unused as a collector's item.
He said: 'Surfboards are a type of sports equipment with tales and stories. Vintage surfboards are more expensive than new ones because they were customised by famous people and are no longer produced.'
Most of Nam's products are imported from warehouses or retailers in Japan. When they arrive in Thailand, they are cleaned and scrubbed with sandpaper, before being repainted according to the customers' instructions.
Nam added: 'Some customers want untouched boards so they can paint them or attach stickers. These surfboards are for decorating their concerts, events, or venues such as cafés, hotels, or resorts.
'However, if the clients cannot do it themselves, our store has staff to help with suggestions or designing.'
Hawaii Surf Thailand also offers repair services to fix damaged surfboards.
Interested customers can contact Nam through the store's Facebook and Instagram pages.
