A rampaging truck driver injured at least ten people when he ploughed through dozens of cars while fleeing from police.
Kiatichai Khotphai, 31, crashed into a vehicle in front of the Wat Tha Kham temple in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 17.
He fled from the scene in a panic, but struck several more cars and motorcycles as police responding to the hit-and-run incident pursued him along Rama II Road.
Dashcam footage shows Kiatichai's truck squeezing between cars on the narrow road, with furious motorcycle riders chasing after him.
He was finally arrested after crashing on the roadside within the jurisdiction of the Phetchakasem Police Station.
Police Colonel Lertsak Khiamsap, superintendent of the Tha Kham Police Station where many angry drivers had filed complaints against Kiatichai, said: 'Initially, no illegal items were found in the suspect's truck.
'The driver was able to speak coherently, and did not appear to be drunk or smelled of alcohol. He had chest pains during the arrest so he was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.'
He added police were waiting for Kiatichai's blood test results to check if he had consumed drugs or alcohol.
Twenty-nine cars were damaged and 10 people were injured during the truck driver's rampage. The wounded have received medical treatment at a hospital.
Police found that Kiatichai's truck belonged to a construction site in neighbouring Samut Prakan province. They were checking to see if it was stolen.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
