A French tourist was found dead on a beach in Indonesia on Monday.
Leo Bauthamy, 25, told his friends he was going bowfishing using spear-like arrows at Walur Beach, but was washed away from the shore by rough waves in Lampung province on July 28.
Leo's friend, Daniel Ari, called the police to report his disappearance after he failed to return to the Villa Mios Bungalows lodging at his usual time around 6 pm.
Police and rescuers spent a day searching for the missing Frenchman's body. He was found floating lifeless off Walur Beach at 2 pm on July 29.
Ipda Kasiyono, West Coast Police public relations head, said: 'The victim was evacuated and taken to the nearest local health center in Pesisir Tengah district to be identified.'
Daniel said that before Leo left, he had brought diving and bowfishing equipment to the beach.
During the search on Sunday, a local, Sepriadi, arrived at the hotel driving Leo's Honda Beach motorcycle.
Sepriadi said the bike had been left unattended near the shores of Walur Beach, and he took it to the villa to keep it from being stolen.
Inspector Kasiyono said: 'Leo Bauthamy had dyslexia and suffered a thigh injury. Today, at around 2:02 pm local time, the victim was found dead and was evacuated to the Pesisir Tengah health center for identification.'
Leo's body was taken to the Bhayangkara Hospital Bandar Lampung.
Police said they were co-ordinating with Immigration and the French Embassy to repatriate his remains.
