A 10-year-old-boy was killed after being trapped in a burning house in Manila, the Philippines, on Wednesday morning.
The youngster, Mark, was alone in a room on the second floor when the fire broke out at his family's home in Paco district at around 10:20 am on July 31.
Mark's parents, aunt, and the housekeeper were able to flee, but the boy was left inside as the blaze ripped through the building.
The inferno spread and engulfed two adjacent houses before firefighters extinguished it at 11:38 am local time.
However, they could not save Mark, whose charred remains were found in one of the bedrooms on the second storey.
Mark's aunt, Naty Carillo, said: 'None of us could rescue him. The smoke was already coming out of the windows.'
The housekeeper, Flora Ranuco, said: 'My employer told me to get the boy. I told him I could not because of the fire. His daddy said to escape. We couldn't save him.'
Meanwhile, Mark's injured parents were taken to a hospital for treatment.
A Paco Fire Station spokesperson said the fire caused an estimated 70,000 PHP (1,200 USD) in damages.
