An American live streamer arrested in Thailand for allegedly romping at a hotel boasted how he blackmailed officials to escape a five-year jail term.
Paul Michael Joseph Denino, better known as 'Ice Poseidon', 29, was detained last June for jokingly giving his girlfriend a lap dance in a live video broadcasted from a privately-booked function room at the Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok.
The furious female hotel manager later arrived, accompanied by several security guards, and kicked them out of the hotel for 'being disrespectful to Thai culture.'
The group were taken to a police station and reportedly paid a bail of around 12,000 USD.
The charges against Denino were dropped around a week later.
Speaking about his experience on the 'No Jumper Podcast' this June, the Florida native said: 'So I went to jail, paid a bunch of money for probation, got out, called this private military contractor that I know to blackmail the judge and the prosecutor and the woman who was pressing charges on me. So she dropped the charges because she had a lot to lose.'
He claimed to have used his connections to dodge possible jail time for lewd behaviour.
He said: 'I have a friend who has a really rich father who uses this company for security when they go to third-world countries.
'So I hired them and then I'm like, listen, if they're gonna put me in jail for five years, get me the f*** out of this country.'
Prior to his release, Denino had released a video apologising to the Banyan Tree Hotel.
He said: 'I was just trying to have fun, and I am sorry. We were drunk, we were in a room. I just didn't understand the severity of what I'd done, lap dancing on my girlfriend. And I am sorry for that. I did not want to cause any negative actions towards anyone. I didn't want to make the hotel look bad or anything, so I apologise. I hope for the speedy release of all of us.'
The maximum prison term for breaking Thailand's computer crime act - the most severe law used against anyone broadcasting obscene material - is up to five years in prison along with a fine up to 100,000 Baht.
Ice Poseidon became popular for his gaming and 'in real life' streams in which he vlogs about his everyday life.
He has faced multiple controversies, including allegations of racism, crypto scamming, doxxing, and violating filming laws in different countries.
