An American tourist was found dead on a beach in Bali, Indonesia.
The deceased, identified in reports only as 'Edward', 51, had been sightseeing at a cliff overlooking Bingin Beach in the Badung Regency when he reportedly plummeted 65ft to the ground.
Passing Frenchman D'armali Bernito, 27, found Edward's corpse and reported the grim discovery to the South Kuta Police on Tuesday, August 13.
However, the American's body was only recovered the following morning, August 14, due to the steep and inaccessible terrain.
Nyoman Sidakarya, head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, said: 'Information about the discovery of the body was only received by the Denpasar Basarnas Office on Wednesday morning at 9:30 am, after being reported by the Nusa Dua maritime police.
'This evacuation involved various parties, including personnel from the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, Bali maritime police, Denpasar Police, Badung Lifeguards, as well as volunteers and the local community.'
Denpasar Police spokesman AKP Ketut Sukadi said a motorcycle believed to have been rented by Edward had been found parked at the top of the cliff.
He said: 'After an examination of the motorcycle, it was found that the rental car number was behind the seat. We immediately contacted the owner and learned that the motorcycle had been rented for two months without payment from the deceased.'
The motorcycle and its contents - a silver pearl necklace, some clothes, medicine, and a membership card - were taken to the South Kuta Police Station.
