A humble restaurant in northern Thailand attracts customers with its spooky decor and tasty dishes as Halloween approaches.
Fake human entrails, gruesome Buddhist ghosts, and dismembered body parts hang over diners at the roadside eatery Khao Tom Sayongkwan in Sukhothai province.
The owner, Uthai Menthaisong, 55, said he has been serving up food for more than 20 years.
He added that he combined his love for handicrafts and ghost stories to create the shop's unique atmosphere. Using repurposed plastic bags, he crafts statues of bloody monsters and severed limbs to give the eatery an unsettling vibe.
Uthai said: 'We used to serve many more dishes, both stir-fried and boiled. But now his wife is sick, so the offerings are a lot simple. Some of our signature meals are spicy intestine salad and Chinese sausage with salted eggs.'
Regulars, some of whom have been dining at Uthai's restaurant for more than a decade, said the meals kept them coming back as they were quick, delicious, and affordable.
One loyal patron said: 'I've been eating here since I was a small child. Now I am a mother of two, and I also often bring my children to eat here. Both of them were scared at first, but they've grown used to the scary decorations.'
Khao Tom Sayongkwan is open from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Si Samrong district of Sukhothai province.
