Lifeguards saved an injured dolphin stranded on a beach in Phuket, Thailand.
The Phuket Lifeguard Service were alerted to the beached marine animal by a New Zealand tourist strolling along Nai Thon Beach on August 28.
Officers and locals rushed over to the stricken marine animal seen in the video lying on the shore and not moving. They tried to float it back into the sea, but the dolphin drifted back to the shore.
Village headman Thanapon Kuakool said he called the Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (Upper Andaman Sea) to arrange for the dolphin's rescue.
Lifeguards placed the dolphin on a small boat and doused it occasionally with water while waiting for the vets to arrive.
The dolphin was taken to the research centre for rehabilitation.
In a later update, the veterinary team said the dolphin was 'extremely tired' but still able to swim. It was fitted with flotation gear to keep it from drowning as it recuperates at the centre.
