A New Zealand tourist plunged to his death from the seventh floor of a hotel in Thailand.
Edward Robert Akuhata, 36, was said to have left his room in a panic before throwing himself off the balcony in Pattaya early morning on August 29.
Footage shows the holidaymaker moments before the fall, shouting for help while appearing to lean over the balcony as concerned neighbours watched.
Hotel staff rushed over upon hearing his screams but he allegedly jumped and crashed onto electric and ventilation pipes at the back of the hotel.
Police Captain Chanan Kesornbua of the Pattaya City Police Station said officers received a report at 6am.
He said: 'We went to the scene to inspect and found no signs of assault in the tourist's room or on his body. The hotel staff also provided a video clip of the moment the foreigner was in a frenzy as evidence.'
Hotel employees claimed the guest appeared to have been hallucinating as he went on a rampage. His body will undergo a post-mortem exam at the Police General Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine.
On August 19, an Irish tourist also plunged to his death from a hotel in Pattaya.
Ultan Michael Browne, 67, allegedly fell from the 31st floor of the Grande Centre Point Pattaya Hotel in the early morning. He reportedly struck the edge of a window before landing on the ground, with his body 'crushed and scattered all over the floor'.
Five days earlier, a German man survived a plunge from the third-floor balcony of a hotel, also in Pattaya.
Manuel Marc Norbert, 21, reportedly fell from the third-storey balcony, then fell through an awning of a high-end hotel along Pattaya Sai Song Road early morning on August 14.
He was found alive and was rushed to a hospital for severe injuries.
Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1960s when the U.S. military had bases in Thailand. In the ensuing years, the coastal resort spawned into a semi-barbarous sex-tourism hellscape.
Embarrassed officials have made progress in gentrifying the region with family tourism projects but a ravenous nightlife industry and corrupt police have hampered their efforts, with undesirables from all nations still attracted to the seedy city.
