A furious Indian husband reported his Thai wife to the police for allegedly kicking him out of their house and leaving him with nothing but the family fridge.
Radesh Siam, 52, stormed out of the local station when his spouse Nuchraporn, 53, asked him to sign divorce papers in Samut Prakan on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, on September 3.
Police officers intervened as the couple nearly came to blows during a heated row at the police station.
Heartbroken Radesh said he fell in love at first sight with Nuchraporn during a religious ceremony at a local Buddhist temple 30 years ago.
But he claimed she had run away and emptied their family home, leaving only the fridge and handful of utensils.
He said: 'Nuchraporn's mother introduced us to each other. I was struck by her beauty, gentleness, and soft-spoken nature. She was very sweet and attentive, and I was enchanted by her so I started courting her.
'I later learned she already had four children from a previous relationship. But what could I do? I was already devoted to her. I vowed to take care of her and her family.'
The couple eventually registered their marriage, with Radesh opening a shop in the province's Pak Nam area to earn money.
However, he said their relationship soured over their 30 years together. He claimed the once-loving Nuchraporn gradually became cold and bitter towards him.
He continued: 'She became heartless. She kept asking me to leave the house. I had invested so much in our family, but this is how she decides to repay me. She must have a mental illness.'
Thai wife Nuchraporn said the reason for their split was because Radesh allegedly often insulted her. She claimed they frequently argued over her children, whom she believed Radesh disliked.
She said: 'I asked him for a divorce because he always curses at me with vulgar words. He never liked my children, too. I tried to endure all of his verbal abuse but I couldn't take it anymore. Still, he refuses to let me go by not signing the divorce papers.'
Nuchraporn also denied that she had a mental illness.
Both sides filed a daily report at the police station and agreed not to cause each other trouble anymore.
Radesh acquiesced to leaving the house, and Nuchraporn agreed to give him all of their assets except the land and the house.
Radesh said: 'Now I am wary of loving Thai women. Although I love Thailand and want to keep living here, I also want to warn foreigners not to invest too much in Thai women.'
Despite his earlier vitriolic outburst, the Indian husband after calming down said he still loved Nuchraporn 'even if she deceived him'. He asked for 30 more days to sign their divorce papers.
