Quick-thinking grandmother narrowly avoids out-of-control pickup truck barrelling towards her

This is the dramatic moment a quick-thinking grandmother narrowly avoided an out-of-control pickup truck barrelling towards her.
The resident, 70, was bent over weeding her yard when two pickup trucks crashed into each other at the junction in front of her house in Chachoengsao province, Thailand, on September 5.
Shocking CCTV footage shows one pickup screeching towards the grandmother. She ran toward her home with seconds to spare as the vehicle rolled over the spot where she was sitting.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Prem Sutthi-udom of the Tha Takiap Police Station said the traffic accident was reported to police at 8:30am.
He said: 'We have inspected the scene and called rescuers to tow both vehicles to the Tha Takiap Police Station.'
Officers, medics, and volunteers arrived at the scene where pickup truck driver Komsan Singrattanasakulwong, 56, was found bleeding from a head wound.
He said: 'I was driving from Bangkok to the Tha Takiap district for business. I saw the other driver approaching the intersection so tried to honk the car horn, but it was too late. It's a miracle I survived the crash.'
The other motorist, Praneet Wajasat, 63, was unharmed. He said: 'I saw the other truck coming, but I continued to drive forward because I thought it was still far away. I did not realise how fast it was travelling.' The grateful grandmother said she felt lucky to have survived the near-miss accident.
She said: 'I am still recovering from a surgery I had just a few months ago. The crash frightened the life out of me. Luckily, I heard the crash and jumped away in time.'
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
