A massive fire engulfed a recycling factory and sparked evacuations in Thailand.
The blaze broke out at the Sinothai Marine Products Co. Ltd., facility which manufactures plastic pellets in Samut Sakhon province at around 11:40pm on September 5.
Samut Sakhon Governor Phon Damtham said he ordered 20 fire trucks to be deployed to the scene.
Firefighters tackled the inferno as it rapidly tore through flammable material at the factory. However, the factory's narrow entrance and the water supply's distant location reportedly hampered their efforts.
Dramatic footage shows flaming mushroom clouds of black smoke erupting from the site while firemen scrambled to douse the bright orange fires.
Thick smoke from burning plastic products and rubber tyres prompted residents to temporarily evacute their homes. Officials said no injuries or casualties were reported.
Police Lieutenant Prapan Thuksakun, Mueang Samut Sakhon District Chief who led the firefighting mission, said: 'The fire was so intense because of the plastic pellets that acted as suitable fuel. It ripped through around two acres of the 20-acre factory.
'The cause of the fire is still unknown. We will proceed with investigations once we bring it under control.'
He added that the fire was expected to be extinguished by September 6 morning.
On May 4, a raging fire also ripped through a paper factory in the same province.
The blaze gutted the building in tambon Ban Koh housing numerous bundles of paper. Authorities said it destroyed about one third of the 12-acre site.
Police were investigating the cause.
