This is harrowing moment a resident stranded in a tree pleads for help as floods engulf thousands of homes in Myanmar on September 11.
U Myo Myint and his wife climbed the branches to escape from the raging muddy torrents surging through streets during heavy rain in the Tat Kon Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
He says in the video: 'Please help me, there's so much water. I'm in the tree because of how much water there its below. The water is about 5ft deep, like a human. The rescue team will come to help soon. I don't want to blame anyone, because there's so much water, nobody can control it. The roots of the tree are strong, so they can support us.'
Heavy rain in recent days caused the deluge that has swamped thousands of homes and cut power across the region. Many residents are trapped in their properties.
Myanmar and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
In Thailand, the north of the country has also been affected by floods and severe rain, worsened from the tailend of Typhoon Yagi. Officials said at least three people have been killed by landslides.
