Out-of-control pick-up truck crashes into row of shops

This is the dramatic moment an out-of-control pickup truck crashed into shops.
CCTV footage shows the truck screeching as it veered off the slippery road toward a row of stores in Phuket, Thailand, on September 9.
A vendor scrambled out of the way as the pickup ploughed through parked vehicles.
The unnamed driver, 35, was unharmed and detained by police. He claimed he lost control while speeding along the wet road. The wreckage has been towed from the scene.
A convenience store owner said the pickup had been travelling at high speeds before barreling into a restaurant, spilling pots of food onto the floor.
There were no injuries or casualties reported.
An officer from the Mueang Phuket Police Station said: 'The driver and shop owners will be summoned at the station to negotiate compensation for damages.'
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
