A naked Italian tourist plunged to his death from a condominium Thailand.
Fausto Chiossi, 66, from Capri, Italy, reportedly fell from a 22-storey building and landed in a car park along Thap Phraya Road in Pattaya in the early hours of September 23.
Receptionist Thanabat Duangchan, 32, said she was chatting with other staff when they heard a loud noise 'like a transformer explosion'.
She said: 'We went outside and noticed a Suzuki Ciaz with its emergency lights blinking. At first, we thought its battery had exploded but when we looked closer, we saw the bloodstained shattered windscreen.'
Fausto was believed to have smashed onto the car before rolling onto the ground beneath a nearby jeep. He was found with blood pooling around his naked body.
Police Captain Puttarak Sonkamhan, Deputy Chief of Investigation of the Pattaya City Police Station, said: 'We coordinated with the police officers from the Forensic Science Division, Region 2, Chonburi Province, to jointly inspect and collect evidence at the scene. The man's body will undergo a post-mortem exam to find the exact cause of his death.'
Pattaya - also known as Thailand's 'Sin City' - has suffered a spate of tourists plunging to their deaths from hotels and condominiums.
On August 29, Edward Robert Akuhata, 36, reportedly threw himself from a hotel balcony.
While on August 19, Ultan Michael Browne, 67, allegedly fell from the 31st floor of the Grande Centre Point Pattaya Hotel in the early morning. He reportedly struck the edge of a window before landing on the ground, with his body 'crushed and scattered all over the floor'.
On August 14, German man Manuel Marc Norbert, 21, fell from the third-storey balcony, then fell through an awning of a high-end hotel along Pattaya Sai Song Road. He was found alive and was rushed to a hospital for severe injuries.
Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1960s when the U.S. military had bases in Thailand. In the ensuing years, the coastal resort spawned into a semi-barbarous sex-tourism hellscape.
Embarrassed officials have made progress in gentrifying the region with family tourism projects but a ravenous nightlife industry and corrupt police have hampered their efforts, with undesirables from all nations still attracted to the seedy city.
