Coast Guard rescues boy, 8, with appendicitis from cruise ship in California

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued an eight-year-old boy diagnosed with appendicitis on a cruise ship in California.
Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders received a report from the Royal Princess at around 7am on September 24 that the youngster needed to be evacuated from the ship.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew were dispatched to the scene around 20 miles west of Eureka.
Officers lifted the boy and his family onto the helicopter using a hoist basket.
The family were transferred to emergency medical services at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Eureka at around 9:40am.
