Korean submarine arrives in Hawaii for joint navy exercises

The Republic of Korea Navy submarine ROKS Lee Boem-seok (SS 081) arrived in Hawaii for the harbor phase of Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024.
Footage shows the Korea-flagged vessel arriving at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on June 21.
Twenty-nine nations, 40 surface ships, three submarines, 14 national land forces, more than 150 aircraft and 25,000 personnel were participating in RIMPAC in and around the Hawaiian Islands, June 27 to August 1.
RIMPAC is the world's largest international maritime exercise conducted to provide a unique training opportunity, foster cooperative relationships among participants, and ensure the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
RIMPAC 2024 is the 29th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
