This is the terrifying moment a wild boar ran through a market and attacked a passerby in Indonesia.
The creature fled into a nearby neighbourhood while locals were holding a hog hunting event in a field in Padang Pariaman Regency on the morning of September 29.
CCTV footage shows how the terrified animal escaped into a market before barging inside a resident's house. It then emerged onto the street and attacked Murizan, 50, as he tried to dodge the animal.
Shocking footage shows the boar darting out of the house to knock down Murizan. The man scrambled to fend off the beast as neighbours struck it with chairs and wood.
After tearing up Murizan's legs and feet, it retreated into an overgrown area of the neighbourhood.
Village official Rezki said the incident happened in the middle of a mass boar hunt organised by the local Pig Hunting Sports Association.
He said: 'At that time, one wild boar ran towards the market and was cornered in front of a resident's house. Upon leaving the house, it immediately attacked the victim. Residents tried to help him but the boar was very persistent in its attack.
'Not long after, it immediately ran away, maybe because there were more and more people surrounding it.'
Murizan was rushed to the Sungai Geringging Health Centre with serious leg injuries and broken fingers. He was transferred to the Padang Pariaman Hospital due to the severity of his wounds.
Murizan's brother, Supriadi, told local media that he had successfully undergone surgery.
Speaking on September 30, he said: 'The operation this afternoon went smoothly. Now his condition is stable. Now we are still waiting for instructions from the hospital. Alhamdulillah, all medical procedures have been completed.'
Suhatri Bur, chair of the local pig hunting association, has vowed to take preventive measures to avoid boar attacks during the hunting events.
