This is the dramatic moment US warships intercepted Iranian missiles headed for Israel.
Footage shows the U.S. Sixth Fleet guided missile destroyers USS Cole (DDG 67) and USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) blocking multiple Iranian ballistic missiles in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea on October 1.
The U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa 6th Fleet said: 'Both destroyers have the aegis weapons system designed for ballistic missile defense and were stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean by the United States in advance of the Iranian launch as a part of U.S. Naval Forces Europe/Africa.'
Iran launched almost 200 missiles toward Israel on October 1, killing at least one person in the West Bank after a few struck central and southern Israel. Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome defence system.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the barrage was retaliation for the 'violation of Iran's sovereignty' after Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an apparent Israeli attack in Tehran in July.
The IRGC also said the attack was in response to an Israeli air strike in Beirut that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
