Scottish female tourist, 55, arrested over cannabis rampage in 'Sin City' Pattaya

A Scottish tourist went on a cannabis-fuelled rampage at a hotel in Thai 'Sin City' Pattaya.

Retiree Tracy Henderson, 55, allegedly bought a jar of legal marijuana for medical reasons but was said to have smoked too much at a resort along Jomtien Beach Road on October 12.

Her worried male friend from Denmark called the police after Tracy locked herself inside her room, reportedly paranoid that someone was hunting her down.

He claimed Tracy, from Edinburgh, had bought the cannabis to smoke the previous day. She began exhibiting strange behaviour soon after.

The Dane told police they both visited notorious coastal resort Pattaya - best known for its round-the-clock sex industry throughout the town - to enjoy their retirement.

Footage shows the crazed Scottish woman, still in her nightgown, going on a tirade at hotel staff. She was escorted out of the building by officers, but she started cursing and screaming while being loaded into a police van.

She told the cops: 'I won't be quiet until I get what I want. I don't care, I don't give a f***!'.

She then continued screeching at the top of her lungs.

Authorities said they found a jar of marijuana, some smoking equipment, and some prescription medications in Henderson's room.

Police took her to a hospital for treatment before she was released.

Police Colonel Navin Thirawit, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, said: 'It is suspected that the cause of her delirium was likely due to chronic illness and excessive use of marijuana.

'Officers arrived at the hotel and calmed the situation very quickly. The suspect was taken away in a police truck because she was still aggressive.

'I want to remind tourists about smoking cannabis. It is legal but people should not take too much of it, especially if they are not familiar with it.'

On October 3, police arrested British tourist David Pittack, 27, from Carshalton, south London, for a string of offenses reportedly committed while high on cannabis.

He was nabbed in Pattaya after he was seen trawling one of the city's notorious strip of sex bars.

Thailand saw a surge of neon-lit cannabis dispensaries after the substance was decriminalised in June 2022 during former army general Prayut Chan-o-cha's leadership, with impoverished farmers hoping it would become a new cash crop.

However, government officials are now furiously backpedalling amid an explosion in mental health complaints and gaudy shops that have attracted an even lower class of holidaymakers than the country's infamous sex tourists.

Officials will now outlaw recreational cannabis, blaming poorly regulated use for allegedly fuelling drug abuse and a rise in the the number of cases of tourists over-indulging in the drug.
