A Thai man was arrested for allegedly raping his underaged niece over seven years.
The pervert was said to have started molesting his niece, 17, when she was only eight years old.
He then reportedly threatened her into keeping the matter a secret for years, before he was finally arrested at his home in Chiang Mai province on July 1.
Police Colonel Arnanchak Kanoknoppawat, superintendent of Bandu Police Station, said: 'The mother explained that she had entrusted her daughter to her sister and brother-in-law after divorcing her husband, to ensure her daughter's education. Her ex-husband worked in South Korea while she worked in Chiang Mai province.'
The mum, 44, said she learned about the alleged sexual abuse in June 2022, when her daughter suddenly asked to move out of her uncle's house to stay with her.
She then rented a house in Chiang Rai, where the girl confessed that she had allegedly been raped for seven years.
The youngster had claimed she was afraid she wouldn't be study anymore if she tattled on her uncle, so she kept the secret for a long time.
Bizarrely, the mum only reported the case to authorities this year, after Loy called and threatened to hurt the girl.
She said: 'At the end of May, her uncle called and threatened her, telling her not to press charges. He said he was tracking her down. She was terrified.
'Because I feared for her safety, I reached out to the Paveena Foundation for assistance. I want to take legal action against him to the fullest extent.'
The Paveena Foundation for Children and Women and the Bandu Police Station took custody of the teen, who was reported to be receiving psychiatric medication.
Meanwhile, Loy's request for bail was denied, and he was temporarily detained at a court in Chiang Rai province.
He will face charges of 'raping a child under 13' and 'raping a child under 15'.
