A German fugitive with a history of attempted murder was arrested for allegedly overstaying his visa in Thailand.
The man, identified only by the pseudonym 'Ahmed', 28, was detained at a hotel in the red light district Soi Sukhumvit 4 in Bangkok.
The arrest came following a tip-off to the Immigration Bureau that there were tourists overstaying in hotels in the area without informing the officials.
Authorities checked the immigration database and confirmed that Ahmed's visa had already expired.
In a July 3 press conference, Immigration Division 2 said Ahmed was also found to be involved in a criminal syndicate in Humburg, Germany. He allegedly shot someone with a gun four times during a violent clash, resulting in serious injuries.
The suspect will undergo legal proceedings in Thailand and is set to be extradited to Germany.
